You may have used speed test websites to check your internet connection speed. All of these websites are Flash or Java dependent which means if the client doesn’t have flash/java installed or simply can’t have it (iOS or Windows 8 devices), it would be impossible to test the bandwidth by these tools.
I have developed a speed test website (speed of me) which is built on pure HTML5 and JavaScript. It downloads several sample files using Ajax and measures real-time and average download speed.
